Acrylic Paintings on Paper and Canvas

Artist's Statement and Biography

I've been making art for the last 45 years.  I acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Print Making degree from Indiana University in 1978.  After graduating I began working in sculpture and painting with acrylics.  I started exhibiting my work in 1980.  I was represented by galleries in Indianapolis, Indiana, New Harmony, Indiana, Chicago, Illinois, and San Francisco, California until the early 1990s.  I was included in numerous juried exhibitions in the mid-west, and I am in several corporate collections from those years.  During the 1990's I acquired another degree in Occupational Therapy and worked until 2010 as an Occupational Therapist.  After retiring, I began making art once again.  Kona Village Artist Gallery is now the only gallery I have any relationship with.  The work here includes several of my earlier works as well as my work since moving to the Big Island.

My current works are acrylic paintings on paper and canvas and are of places that I feel attachments to.  They are areas I tend to spend time in and not just go to paint in.  I hope I infuse my feelings for the places I paint and make my unique process of painting part of the work.  I also paint more personal images that deal with my day to day life.  I've included Giclee prints of my original paintings, so they can be taken home in people's luggage and are more affordable.
